Building energy audits can be stripped down or ratcheted up with a variety of services. At the most basic, an inventory of the thermal and electrical consumption needs of the building will be assessed. Communication with tenants and owners will aim to inform on ways to reduce monthly energy related costs. The building will also be assessed for safety concerns related to combustion appliances.

Home Energy Score

The Home Energy Score is a tool developed by the Department of Energy to score homes across the United States with a simple rating. It is the home equivalent of an energyguide rating for your refrigerator or a miles per gallon score for your car.

Blower DOor Test

Why is this test important?

This test will pull a negative pressure on your home, by placing a large fan in your doorway. Air will start leaking into your home through all the cracks and holes around the house. You will be able to walk around and feel all of the leaks!

So what does it tell us?

Let's say your home has great insulation, but has high infiltration of outside air. It essentially negates your insulation and requires you to heat a lot of new air. Air sealing is frequently the most cost effective solution for improving a home. The blower door helps pinpoint all of the locations to seal.

Infrared Imaging

Infrared Images can be helpful to diagnose insulation levels and prioritize retrofit projects to ensure the most savings.

You have fires going on inside your house all the time. We make sure they are happening in a controlled manner. You don't want noxious emissions, carbon monoxide poisoning, or your house burning down. We'll test to make sure your equipment is operating how it was designed to.

Combustion Appliance Safety Testing

Why is my house using so much energy?

Utility bills can give major insight into building performance. Modeling a home using all of the diagnostic tools can only paint part of the picture. It is theoretical by nature. Utility bills are the key to seeing the actual performance of your building. They can be the missing piece to a puzzle of how and why buildings use energy.
